Wedding catering in Switzerland

Starting prices on Hochzeitsuche begin at CHF 10, per item or per person depending on the caterer. As a guide per person: an apéro with canapés costs CHF 30 to 80, a buffet CHF 40 to 120 and a plated menu from an independent caterer CHF 100 to 140. Drinks are usually charged separately, at CHF 15 to 60 per person. For food and drinks together, most couples budget CHF 120 to 300 per guest. Always ask whether staff, tableware, delivery and clearing up are included.

• Apéro riche: substantial finger food instead of a main course, ideal after the ceremony or for a relaxed party.
• Buffet: plenty of choice, also for vegetarians and guests with allergies. It needs space, and time until everyone has been served.
• Plated dinner: festive and calm, but it needs more staff and a fixed schedule.
• Food stations and live cooking: raclette, risotto or a grill in front of the guests. Entertaining, but you need a roof if it rains.
• Dessert buffet and late-night snack: can be booked on their own, in addition to the venue's food.

First check with the venue whether outside caterers are allowed and whether there is a kitchen, electricity and water. Plan vegetarian dishes and allergies from the start. A tasting tells you more than any menu card. And agree in writing how long the staff stay and who clears up.

Six to twelve months before the wedding, earlier for Saturdays between May and September. You usually confirm the final number of guests one to two weeks beforehand.
