Wedding photo booth hire in Switzerland: prices, choice, timing

How much does a wedding photo booth cost?

If you collect it or have it sent by post and set it up yourself, a photo booth in Switzerland starts at around CHF 200 to 400 for the event. With delivery, set-up and prints, you will usually pay CHF 500 to 900. A mirror booth generally costs more, at some vendors up to around CHF 1,600.

The price depends on the length of hire, the number of prints and whether someone stays on site. Extras that often cost more: travel, additional prints, a photo backdrop and extra hours. To see how a photo booth fits into your overall budget, read How much does a wedding cost in Switzerland?.

Photo booth, mirror booth or 360 booth?

  • Photo booth: the classic. Camera and screen sit in one unit, and guests take their own pictures.
  • Mirror booth (magic mirror): a large mirror with a touchscreen in which guests see themselves as they take the picture. It looks more elegant than a box and usually costs more.
  • 360 booth: guests stand on a platform while a camera moves around them and shoots a short video. It brings movement to the party, but you get videos rather than prints.
  • Photo bus: a converted bus with a photo booth inside. It needs a parking space outside the venue.

What to look out for when hiring a photo booth

  • Prints: ask how many are included and what additional ones cost. Packages range from 100 prints to unlimited.
  • Length of hire: how many hours does the booth run, and what does each extra hour cost? It is busiest from the apéro through to the party.
  • Set-up and support: will it be delivered and set up, or do you collect it yourselves? Will someone stay on site? Also ask who to call if the printer stops working.
  • Space and power: allow two to three metres square, a normal socket and dry, level ground. Agree the spot with your venue in advance.
  • Photos for everyone: will you receive all the pictures online? Can guests download them with a QR code, and how long does the gallery stay open?
  • Layout: many vendors print your names and the date on the pictures. Ask when they need the details.

When to book

Saturdays between May and September go first. Book the photo booth as soon as your date and venue are fixed. For a Friday or outside the season, you can usually still find one later.
