What does a wedding dress cost in Switzerland?

Starting prices on Hochzeitsuche range from CHF 30 to CHF 5 000; the median is CHF 600. The low starting prices are for alterations, accessories or second-hand dresses. A new wedding dress from a boutique usually costs CHF 1 500 to 4 000 in Switzerland; designer dresses and made-to-measure start at CHF 4 000. Second-hand and outlet dresses cost CHF 500 to 1 500. Allow another CHF 200 to 600 for alterations, plus the veil, shoes and underwear.

How a fitting appointment works

Appointments at boutiques last 60 to 90 minutes and are usually free; some charge a fee that is credited if you buy. Bring no more than two companions, and shoes with the heel height you are planning to wear. Ordered dresses take four to six months to arrive, followed by two to three fittings for alterations.

When to order?

Ideally eight to twelve months before the wedding. If you have less time, bridal studios with dresses in stock, second-hand shops or express orders for a surcharge offer a way out.
